Andrić Prize Andric's last wish was that "part of the funds from his legacy should be used to award the best short story". As of 1976, every October 10 th the Ivo Andrić Foundation has presented the Ivo Andrić Award to the best short story or book of short stories published within the previous year in Serbian. Our only Nobel Laureate Ivo Andric died 43 years ago, and today we do not know much of the important details of his life, like the fact that he gave the entire amount (around the current million euros) of the Nobel Prize. Namely, Ivo Andric received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1961, when he was 69 years old.
