Assignment The Confidencen Palace Theatre is a rococo treasure situated in the Palace Park of Ulriksdal, just outside of Stockholm. In the light of entering a new era, with fresh collaborations, inspiring productions as well as the necessity to widen the audience, the timing was perfect to update and launch a new book about Confidencen and its rich history.

The Dalhalla Opera Festival is staged in a former limestone quarry in the lakelands of Dalarna, and this year provides the spectacular The court theatre at Ulriksdal Palace features the oldest original theatre interior in Sweden, designed 1753 by the theatre architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. The building itself had originally been constructed as riding stables in the 1670’s. On Queen Lovisa Ulrika’s initiative it was converted into a theatre.

But the festival here is of much more recent origin and as yet is little known outside Sweden. The 18th century comes alive in the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre Confidencen, Sweden’s oldest rococo theatre.

Ulriksdal Palace Theatre's friends' association, Confidencen Rediviva, was founded in the early 1980s and was responsible for Confidencen's operations up until 1996, when the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre Foundation took over in cooperation with the friends' association.
